MLK Day

Sarah and I (plus some friends) attended the Martin Luther King Jr Celebration this year that we saw on TV last year. For 29 years now, the Madison Wi Capital has honored Mr King with a “Tribute and Ceremony,” the oldest running in the country.

The Ceremony was full of performances, poems, speeches, vocal performances and even a 6th grade boy reciting part of the “I have a dream” speech.

This was a great reminder, not only how far we have come, but how far we still have to go for true racial equality in America.

Every year the Ceremony ends with the passing of the plaque that consecrated today as the Martin Luther King Remembrance Day through the State. I just thought it was cool that everyone got to see it, and that it always gets returned.
