Little Norway…with a Norwegian

Since this last weekend was one of the last weekends that Finn (intern with 2100 and our housemate) will be here we wanted to take him to Little Norway. Just picture going to a Colonial Style ranch, like this one that my mom works at, but it is with all the Norwegian heritage and tradition…yah, that’s what it was. It was fun to give Finn a hard time about the silly little things that his people used to do, until our tour guide said that because of the time period a lot of Americans would also do these silly things too. It was fun, we also went hiking after. See Becky’s pic’s here, Mike’s pic’s here and more of mine here.

Technical: Just took my wide zoom, very freeing knowing that i only had one lens...try it sometime. I kinda wished I had a fixed wide angle though, it would have been lighter.

Tahoe Trip: Part 2

Since traveling to Tahoe messed with my internal clock, I was naturally waking up 2 hours early; this was great the first two days because it made it easy to see the sunrise. So I did. I really missed a sunrise (or sunset even) over water…it was amazing to be still during a sunrise, and know that there is a God out there that loves you.

Technical: Top 4 sunrise images were on the South side of the Lake by our condo and therefore I was seeing the results of the great light on mountains on the other side of the lake and the water in front of me. For the bottom 4 images, I traveled to the West side of the Lake (Emerald Cove to be exact) and got the light as it came over the hills in front of me and did fancy, beautiful, magic things. Used a mix of Telephoto and wide zooms.

Tahoe Trip: Part 1

The first leg of our (my wife and I) trip to Tahoe involved seeing my parents and a stop at the church my brother works at. It was a lot of fun to see them, and I knew that I wanted to spend time with family and not be taking a ton of pics…but I really wanted a shot of my brother… dilemma. I planned out a portrait that I thought could be good and was intentional about sticking to that and only that. So yah, here is what I did…and the other shots were just because he is a kooky kid. (You know I love ya Wade. Oh, and remember that it was not me who knocked over that stand of wireless mikes when I got off that stool.)

Technical: wide angle of course, standing on a stool for a good vantage point, flash on a TTL cord at arms length to left, I think the ambient was exposed to –1 and flash zoomed in to 105mm and and set to +2/3
