frozen indian lake

I have kinda (well, more like really) been in a stupor (grumpy mood sounds too childish, but it was) today. I knew that I should get out and do something but the cold (really cold, like single digit cold…plus wind chill cold) was discouraging me. So I went anyway. I drove for a while, aimlessly until I ran across Indian Lake (I had been there before, but before the cold came) and got intrigued. So I parked and decided to walk across the lake. I was soon so enthralled by all the little, big and cold things that I forgot my stupor (and the cold)…(ok enough of the side-thoughts-in-parentheses already!) … Thanks God.

MLK Day

Sarah and I (plus some friends) attended the Martin Luther King Jr Celebration this year that we saw on TV last year. For 29 years now, the Madison Wi Capital has honored Mr King with a “Tribute and Ceremony,” the oldest running in the country.

The Ceremony was full of performances, poems, speeches, vocal performances and even a 6th grade boy reciting part of the “I have a dream” speech.

This was a great reminder, not only how far we have come, but how far we still have to go for true racial equality in America.

Every year the Ceremony ends with the passing of the plaque that consecrated today as the Martin Luther King Remembrance Day through the State. I just thought it was cool that everyone got to see it, and that it always gets returned.

atlanta 08

For the weeks following Christmas, a coworker and I drove a moving truck down to Atlanta Georgia (2 days each way) for InterVarsity’s Black Student Leadership Conference. We took all the audio/video/backdrop gear to setup and tech the conference with. A long story short: The teaching was challenging and I had a blast. The long drive down, long days (sometimes 22 hours worth) and time away from Sarah was all worth it. The students were great and they even loved getting their picture taken…so my job was made easier. I was the conference photographer; all the images were processed for a slideshow at the end of the conference (as well as placed on the Atlanta 08 Facebook page,) created a visual chronology of the week and will be used for BCM (InterVarsity’s Black Campus Ministries) publications through the next couple years.

cold is relative

Sarah and I are heading out to Milwaukee this weekend and looking forward to the weather. It should be 35 degrees warmer than here! (granted thats like 25, but still) Will we need shorts?
Oh, and wind chill today should keep the temp at -20!

Well, let the 2009 wedding season begin!

What a way to start it off too, just 3 days in and I get to photograph Brandon's wedding, he was a coworker with me at InterVarsity's Multi Media Department, before he decided to get married and go on campus staff that is. Congrats you two, and thanks for letting me be a part of it all!
