more and more apples
Apple picking has become a Fall tradition for us here in Wisconsin. Throw in some cute kids into the mix and it is even more fun. We are heading back this weekend for round three, I see lots of apple pie and apple pancakes in our future.

toss a cow chip
A couple weekends ago, Sarah and I experienced some true mid-west culture. Yes, they have a Stete Competition on how far you can toss a cow chip. (For you city folks, thats farm lingo for dried cow p**p) Take a look at their website (http://www.wiscowchip.com/) which includes stats, the rules and the dates for next year so you can mark your calendar!

pheasant branch with a tripod
I trekked out to Pheasant Branch this morning with some guys from the Black Hawk Photo Group, we were looking for Fall colors but knew we wouldn't find any. It was more like just an excuse to get out. The rain that came through over night created some really great colors and the overcast sky created great light. If it had just been me I would have looked outside and thought that it was not worth it, but with others waiting for me I felt the pressure. Glad for that now. I also tried to shoot a lot with my tripod, really slowed me down but it was good to get into the habit, it also allowed me to create images with some really deep depth of field.

jordon's senior portraits
It always amazes me what some people will do for a photo. Jordon was bold enough to listen to my suggestions. These “suggestions” included standing on the wall of a parking garage 4 stories up as well as sitting on the steps of a random apartment building only to dodge the tenants as they apologetically walked through the shot.
Thanks for humoring the photographer Jordon, and don't forget to have fun in your last year.

Lydia and Josh
Girls have a certain twinkle in their eyes when they are happy. Lydia couldn’t hide the fact that she likes Josh. I guess that is a good thing. Needless to say it was easy for me to sit back and watch them feel comfortable with each other. Thanks for letting me into a special part of your lives, looking forward to the wedding next year!

fathers day video essay
David (a friend and coworker who also directed me on this shoot) approached me over a year ago and asked if I would help him with a personal project. It was an experimental video essay that he wrote from his own personal story. We talked about the possibilities of making the video and over the past year created what is below. We even asked a mutual friend to write the sound track. It was a lot of work and even more fun to create. David is an amazing director, one who I feel free to be creative under. Thanks for the opportunity David.

Eli with Shannon and Joel
Why is it that “family portraits” can easily turn into “cute kid portraits”? Such was the case for Eli. Since I photographed his parents wedding a while ago, it was great to catch up.
