thanksgiving

This year’s thanksgiving trip back to California seemed a bit more jam-packed than last year. We somehow fit in 2 church services, shopping, visiting with both sets of parents, a lunch with friends, a funeral, meeting up with my brother, coffee with InterVarsity staff, thanksgiving dinner and setting up the Christmas decorations. And probably more that I am forgetting, like making sure to make repeat visits to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for Sarah’s favorite Pomegranate Blueberry Tea Latte’s.

Photographically, I found myself not always looking for photo opportunities; this was a little disconcerting at first when I realized that I had not taken as many photos as I normally would have, until I realized I was actually having fun with people. This is often hard for me to do (not the having fun part but the not taking photos part.) In the end I am only a little disappointed that I don’t have any photos of the hours with my parents, but I do remember having a lot of fun. I guess I still need to learn that I do not have to document every aspect of every event I am part of.

gretta and dave

Saying that this last photo shoot of Gretta and Dave ended with freezing rain and sleet makes it sound like the entire photo shoot was horrible, so I will not lead you on that way. I will just say that I had fun getting them to run around downtown in some pretty cold weather to try and get some photos made. I think they might have had some fun with it too, I am not sure.

sara and shaun

It sure is no lot fall anymore...but it is not snowing yet, so why not try and fit in a couple more pre-wedding portraits before it gets to cold to smile.  Sara and Shaun were easy enough though I never had to tell the to say 'cheese' but rather they responded pretty well to taunts of tickling and general fun having. I love it when I can just sit back and photograph fun loving people.

refreshing morning

The fact that I have been traveling a bit for work is my excuse for the lack of posts, there should be some more coming down the pike as I rest and regain focus on the image I actually took. But in the coolness of the morning today, I found some images that really excited me. Maybe it was because I was not carrying 40 pounds of gear or maybe because I was actually looking for images instead of making them happen, but it sure was energizing.
